Favorite Drugstore Mascara

If I were to become deserted on an island and I could only wish for one makeup product, it would most definitely have to be mascara. I love how it can instantly change my entire face to make me look for awake and ready to take on the day. Here are my current favorites:
1.  Loreal's Carbon Black Volumnious mascara is my all time, absolute faveorite that I will continue to repurchase. I love that the formula allows for so much volume, but also gives the length I want as well.
2. Loreal's volumnious extra volume collagen mascara. This mascara gives intense volume. The way the bristles are formed on the brush allow it to grab every single eyelash and pull through with ease, while releasing product onto my lashes in the perfect amount. There is no need to do four or five coats of mascara with this guy…oh no, you only need one application and your eyelashes will have tons of volume!
3. Maybelline's Volume Express: The Falsies line. I love the curve on this mascara wand and the formula is to die for. I typically apply this mascara by first using the outside of the U shape. This allows for the formula to be placed on my lashes and coat everything evenly. If more shaping needs to be done I will turn the brush until each lash is perfectly in line.
4. Maybelline's Volume Express Mega Plush. Not only does this formula give volume, but it does so in a way that looks very natural. I really like to use this one on days where I'm running errands and want something on my lashes, but don't need tons of thickness.
5.  Maybelline's Volume Express Big Eyes mascara. I LOVE this mascara because of the duel sided bristles.  The first side, meant for your upper lashes, has the perfect larger to smaller bristle size, but it also twists as it goes down too! The second side, meant for your bottom lashes has the smallest and cutest little bristled brush which is perfect for adding length, volume, and separation for your bottom lashes! I love that this brush was meant for both sets of lashes and does a great job!

Ballet Slippers

Recently, I've been loving very light pink, almost white nails. I feel like everyone is wearing pastel colors for spring and I love the fresh look that it gives. Obviously from the pictures above you can see that I don't have very long nails - this is considered long for me! These are the steps I take when working with a more sheer nail polish. I used Ballet Slippers by Essie and Matte About You by Essie:
1. Once you've applied your base coat, paint on one layer of the main sheer color and let dry 2 minutes.
2. Apply one coat of the matte clear coat of your choosing and let dry 2 minutes.
3. Apply 1-2 more coats of the main sheer color and let dry 2 minutes per coat.
4. Apply top coat and let dry for 15 minutes.
5. Add cuticle moisturizer of your choice.

To me, it is essential to let your coats dry completely before adding another because the drying time ensures that the coat will look even and perfectly polished. Once I know that every single nail is completely dry, I like to add a moisturizing cream to my cuticles to restore the hydration that was stripped from the acetone/nail polish remover. My current favorite is the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream from Burt's Bees. I hope you guys liked this little nail segment. There will definitely be more coming soon!

P.S. If you don't want to sit and wait for 15 minutes to let your nails dry, I always blast my hair dryer on them to speef up the process!

{Jean Machine}

My life has been crazy lately. I'm sorry for not posting as often, but sometimes life just has to come first. As the semester is coming to a close, I will have more down time to dedicate to the blog! My dad has also been ill and has had surgery and thank goodness he is feeling better now. Most of my time has been spent either completing homework and projects (no one said grad school was easy!) or being with my family. With all this being said, I am SO happy to be sharing this post with you guys. You can't find me in light wash jeans that often, but I loved when I paired my darker wash jean jacket with this outfit. These shoes are from LC Lauren Conrad @ Kohl's Collection and I scored them for $7.00 over the holiday season! You better believe I screamed out loud in the middle of the crowds when I found these beauties for such a low price! I've been begging for warmer weather ever since to bust them out and share them with you! The taupe color pairs well with the gray in the T-shirt and I love that it's a neutral color to go with literally every thing I own!
